Casement & Timber Window Repair
We have many years of experience in the repair of Sash windows, replacement and refurbishment of timber casement windows. Many home owners will have suffered with casement windows that have become stuck, are difficult to open and close, or are letting unwelcome draughts and debris through the ever widening gaps in the window frames.
Our renovation methods are extremely thorough and we have many satisfied customers who've been surprised that we've been able to take their timber casement windows and restore them to their original condition, and sometimes better, due to the addition of modern draught-proofing and double glazing.
Draught-proofing System
Our draught-proofing system will help to control draughts and loss of heat together with reducing any rattles or frame noise from the timber windows.
Timber casement windows rot and decay when the wood becomes wet. This is usually caused by the breakdown of the paint. It cracks and allows moisture to penetrate the wood, which then dries causing the paint to flake and lift and exposes more wood and so the cycle carries on. You can prevent this from happening by having a good paint cycle, anywhere between 3 and 8 years for windows in good repair.
Moisture also penetrates where the putty has broken down. Putty becomes hard and brittle over time then cracks allowing moisture to penetrate and sit in the glazing line. Once it has become brittle it can fall out altogether.

Window Repairs
Using a complete window repair system which includes specialist tools, highly trained operatives and the most advanced resins, we can achieve durable, cost effective repairs.
We carry out repairs using the most advanced resins on the market so we can also work on more awkward shapes. For best value we incorporate the traditional method of splicing timber into large repairs using the resin to bed in and seal around the new wood. This is particularly good for replacement sills, making them in effect, watertight. It is designed to be flexible and tough enough to repair damage, without the need to replace whole sections of perfectly good timber.
Many old casement windows have seen a reduction in integrity due to inferior glues that were often used when they were put together initially. This can lead to joints opening and becoming exposed to the elements which in turn leads to rot, fungal growth and even insect attack. With the modern methods and advanced bonding materials used by our team of experts at Sash Windows Northwest, we can extend the life of your casement window frames considerably.
All the wood in each timber casement window will be carefully examined and any areas that have been spoiled will be removed and skilfully replaced by splicing in similar grained wood, filled using our epoxy based wood filler and then matched precisely to the contours of the existing frame, before being given a coat of primer and painting is organised to give the casement window frame its final protective coat.
Casement Renovation
During renovation we can swap any windows with heat efficient K-Glass if requested, this being cheaper than replacing the entire window with a new double-glazed unit. Renovating your existing casement windows is certainly more cost effective than replacing the windows entirely, though we can of course supply brand new double glazed casement windows to match any design if they are required.
