Sash Window Renovation Cumbria
Sash window renovation was recently carried out on the sash windows of this old building in Ulverston, Cumbria. Stone Cross Mansion is a Grade II listed mansion on the outskirts of the historic market town of Ulverston, in the lovely county of Cumbria. The mansion was built in limestone to a Gothic/Scottish Baronial style between 1874-79.
Sash Window Draught Proofing, Cumbria
Sash Windows Northwest are using their specialist expertise to renovate and draught-proof the existing sash windows on the property. We are installing Slim Lite double-glazed units into existing frames. This, coupled with our draught proofing system, will make the windows more energy efficient. The rotten sills are being replaced in European oak with Accoya splice work. Ensuring the sash windows are restored back to complete working order, working hand in hand with the architects and conservation officers so that the windows are restored to their former glory.

In areas like Cumbria and the Lake District, where there is a lot of older domestic and commercial properties with Sash Windows, this renovation and restoration process is necessary in prolonging and maintaining their durability and aesthetic appeal. To protect the future of the mansion it was allocated, along with the grounds, for Residential Enabling Development in the South Lakeland Local Plan. Planning permission was granted earlier in 2016 for 19 apartments in the mansion itself, conversion of the Gatehouse into one bungalow and for the building of 45 new houses in the grounds. The conversion works have been carefully designed to respect, with minimum intervention, the significant architectural features, assets and spatial arrangements of the existing building.

This development will ensure that Stone Cross Mansion, Cumbria, and it's grounds remain an important heritage asset, restoring its former public glory to make a positive contribution to the fabric of Ulverston and its historic environment for years to come.
